Library Reopening: Important Information

Guidelines and protocols for the reopening of PCC Library (Everett Building).

Space Availability

Library service points and processes for checkouts, reference, and technology help have been modified in order to facilitate social distancing and still provide the highest level of service. Please follow signs, ask staff for clarification, and be patient as we work to provide our services in safe and effective ways.

1st floor is OPEN

The 1st floor of the Library will be available for individual study space, computer use, printing, scanning, photocopying and material checkout.

2nd floor is CLOSED

At this time, the 2nd floor of the Library is closed to all patrons. Should you need a book or other print material from the 2nd floor, a library staff member will get it for you and bring it to the 1st floor for use. As conditions improve, more of the Library will be made accessible. Please continue to check the Library website for updates. 

Books & Materials

While the 2nd floor of the Library is closed, the book and periodical collections will not be available for browsing. Library staff will be glad to retrieve any books or periodicals for you.

Access to Books

To access books and other materials located on the 2nd floor:

  • Ask in person at the circulation desk on the 1st floor. You will have to wait until a staff member is able to retrieve the items.

  • Use the 2nd floor book request form to let us know what you'd like to view in advance so that the items can be ready at a scheduled time and date.

Pick Up Books

  • If you request books in advance, you will be notified when your order is ready for pick-up at the 1st floor service desk. 

  • You may request curbside service via the 2nd floor book request form if you do not feel safe entering the building. 

Book Return Options

  • Books can be returned any time using the drop box located in the parking lot between the Everett and Fulford buildings.
  • Books can be returned in person at the 1st floor service desk when the building is open. Please note that the Library is only open limited hours starting Monday, August 17. 
  • DO NOT put laptops, hotspots, or other equipment in the drop box as they can easily get damaged.

Reserves

Reserve items are available for in-library use. After use, these items will be quarantined for 3 days. Call or email before coming to make sure the item is available.

Computers & Equipment

Laptops & Hotspots for Checkout

  • Laptops and hotspots are available for checkout at the Library.
  • Due to a limited number of these items, we encourage you to request laptops and hotspots in advance using the online request form. 

Technology Assistance

  • Following CDC and College established recommendations for limiting exposure, Library staff will limit face-to-face technology assistance.
  • Assistance will be provided at point-of-need from a physical distance. More extensive technology-related questions will require phone or virtual consultation appointments.

Desktop Computers

  • There are a limited number of computers available for use while the building is open.
  • If you need regular access to a computer or hotspot to complete coursework, we encourage you to check out a laptop and/or hotspot. 

Printers, Scanners, & Photocopiers

  • You will have access to computer printers, scanners, and a photocopier (cash only). 

Study Rooms

At this time, group study is not permitted and all large group study rooms are closed. However, we do have options available for individuals.

Study Room Reservations

  • Four study rooms are available on the 1st floor for individual use only.
  • You can see what's available and then reserve a room in advance by using our online room reservation system.
  • Please be aware that study rooms will be cleaned and sanitized after each use, which may occasionally delay access to the room.
