A webinar presented by CCCOER on March 25, 2025, posed several questions to consider when thinking about using AI in the creation of OER:
- Is AI-generated content open content and what policies and guidance do we have about this?
- Has higher education adequately distinguished between citing AI-generated content and creating usage attributions for it?
- Are there legitimate concerns about the implications of citing AI-generated content, over scholarly sources, in an Open Educational Resource?
- If AI plays a larger role in OER creation, do we still need subject matter experts? Why or why not?
- What risks do we face if we rely too heavily on AI for generating educational content?
Until the recording is published, here is the list of resources that were shared during the session:
- AI Policy [Journal of New Librarianship]
- AI & OER Community Hub [OER Commons]
- ISKME’s Guiding Principles for Responsible AI in the World of “Open”
