How to search:

  1. Type the name of the compound in the search box.
  2. You can search for entries that mention either the common name or the scientific name by connecting the search terms with OR in the search box.
    Example: laughing gas OR nitrous oxide
  3. Click the search button.
  4. Entries with very few words are typically short definitions. Look for longer entries with around 175 or more words.
  5. Click the title of the article (essay) to view it.
  6. Use the filters to narrow the results by type (dictionary, encyclopedia, etc.), length of article, date, etc.

When you open an entry from a dictionary or encyclopedia, there are tools for sharing, citing, reading aloud, etc. You can browse the dictionary or encyclopedia where the current article is from by clicking the title of the book down near th end of the entry. You may also get a list of related keywords that you can click in order to run a new search.
