History vs. Film (HIS 131 and 132)

Assignment research guide for E. Walls.

E-Books vs. Library Books

The Library has several databases with thousands of full text e-books that you can read online. Most of those databases are included in the e-book search below.

The main difference between searching for e-books and searching the Library catalog, is that in most cases with e-book databases, the entire text of the book is searched. This means that you can use the tools of the e-book database to search for specific words within a single book and go directly to the pages that mention those keywords.

Search Examples:

  • "Red Scare" AND "United States"
  • Cherokee AND "Trail of Tears"
  • California AND "gold rush"

The E-book Search box below will search several databases at once. HOWEVER, you will likely get better results if you search individual databases, which are listed on this page as well..
