What is your topic?

For this assignment, you are to find articles or books on the SUBJECT or TOPIC that the film is about. Use the search tips in this guide to help you find resources related to your topic. If you need help searching, you can always ask a librarian for guidance.

What if you don't know much about your topic?

Before diving in to searching for an article or book, it will be very helpful if you know some basic facts about your topic. Write down things like the dates, time period, location, major people, places, or events involved, etc. These will help you make sure you have found an article or book that is on your specific topic.This is called background information.

Find background information on your topic in:

  • a history textbook
  • an encyclopedia (use Credo Reference below)
  • a reputable website (museum, historical society, university, government, etc.)
