The NC Occupational Therapy Association (NCOTA) is North Carolina’s leading association for occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and occupational therapy students.

The North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy was established by the 1984 session of the N. C. General Assembly. The first Board meeting was held in September 1985 and licenses began being issued in 1986.

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the national professional association established in 1917 to represent the interests and concerns of occupational therapy practitioners and students of occupational therapy and to improve the quality of occupational therapy services.

The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization that provides certification for occupational therapy professionals.
