  • Alcohol:
    • Describe what about the typical lifestyles of college students can encourage this binge drinking culture and could ultimately lead to addiction.
    • Identify the health effects of binge drinking and alcohol use disorder. Include signs of overdose and withdrawal syndrome information.
  • Illicit Drugs:
    • Focusing on cannabis, detail the health effects and risks of misuse and addiction.
    • Include signs of overdose and withdrawal syndrome information (yes, it exists).

Global Components

  • Alcohol:
    • Identify and compare our country's alcohol consumption rates to your team’s assigned country. Include estimated rates of those diagnosed with alcohol use disorder, overdosing, and those seeking treatment.
  • Drugs:
    • Identify rates of the most commonly used illicit drugs in the U.S. college student population. Focusing on cannabis, compare and discuss our country’s rates of use to your team’s assigned country. Include the estimated rates of those seeking treatment for cannabis use. 

Symptoms and/or behavioral indicators that someone may be on the negative end of the wellness spectrum. Tests and/or diagnoses for a person who may be on the negative end of the wellness spectrum.

  • Alcohol:
    • Detail indicators that alcohol use disorder may be present in a person’s life. Do not confuse this with the health effects of alcohol abuse.
    • Describe how a person would be diagnosed with alcohol use disorder.  
  • Illicit drugs:
    • Focusing on cannabis, detail indicators that misuse of that substance is present in a person’s life. Do not confuse with the health effects of cannabis use.

    • Describe the policies and/or resources available for a person with alcohol use disorder in the U.S., as well as those in your team’s assigned country. 
  • Illicit Drugs:
    • Describe the policies and/or resources available for a person with substance use disorder in the U.S., as well as those your team’s assigned country. 

Positive lifestyle choices for prevention, and how to seek treatment when needed.

  • Alcohol:
    • Detail lifestyle choices and habits the typical college student could avoid or improve upon to avoid misusing alcohol.
    • Identify different treatment types, as well as types of qualified professionals if additional help/treatment is needed.
  • Drugs:
    • Detail lifestyle choices and habits the typical college student could avoid or improve upon to avoid misusing cannabis.
    • Identify resources/treatment options for an individual that may need additional help for cannabis and other illicit drugs.

    • Discuss what our country can learn from the laws, policies, or interventions in your team’s assigned country that may benefit the U.S. to improve alcohol use disorder prevention and intervention. Please avoid the excessive use of opinions without research.
  • Drugs:
    • Discuss what our country can learn from the laws, policies, or interventions in your team’s assigned country that may benefit the U.S. to improve substance use disorder prevention and intervention. Please avoid the excessive use of opinions without research.
